We moved from Houston, where most of our friends still live, and have never really met anyone in our community. While at a friend's house for a party, I noticed how well she knew her neighbors after living there only a short time. They all had children ranging in age. I thought it was really nice that they had such a great community. I have often wondered about our neighbors but have not really made an effort to meet anyone. Now that we have established a life out here I would love to get to know some you.
I have such wonderful "mom" support with my friends. We often call each other for sick, hurt or fussy kid advice, recommendations for anything from babysitters to preschools or just for a play date. It would be nice to get to know the kids that my kids will be going to school and playing sports with, and just to have that support network closer to home.
I would like to set up a meet up at the park (or pool during the summer) one Saturday a month. No pressure or obligation because I know we are all busy, just if you can.
If you would like to join us and meet other parents and kids in the neighborhood I am planning the first meet up at the playground on Sugar Lakes Drive by the club house on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 10:00AM.
To keep in touch please follow this blog. Feel free to reply under the comments section. I know some of us are working around nap times etc. This is meant for families so dads are always welcome!

So glad you did this! I have been wanting to meet other families in our neighborhood so our kids could also meet other kids close by. My partner and I have boy/ girl twins. They will be 4 in January.

We are expecting our first in March 2013, and I would love to get to know more people in our neighborhood!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to see some interest! I am looking forward to meeting y'all!
ReplyDeleteMonica, please join us on December 8th if you can. Just to come by and say hi. If not, please stay in touch! Congrats!!
I am so glad someone took the initiative to do this! This is the only thing I found lacking in our beautiful neighborhood-lack of little kids and play dates for my son :) I Have a boy who just turned 4 in Sept. As you can imagine, his energy level is over the top and I take him to other communities to play with my friends kiddos. Looking forward to future meetups closer to home
